    Rubber Testing Equipment Featuring High Voltage Application and Electrolyte Droplet Method for Surface Resistance Testing

    During the test, two specific electrodes are placed on a flat sample surface at a specified pressure (such as 1N). Apply a high-voltage alternating current (such as 2.5kV, 4.0kV, 6.0kV, etc.) between the electrodes. Meanwhile, a specified concentration of electrolyte (usually ammonium chloride solution) is dropped onto the surface of the sample between the electrodes at constant time intervals (such as 30 seconds) through a droplet device.
    Under the combined effect of high pressure and contaminated liquid, leakage current will occur on the surface of the sample and may trigger small electric sparks. If the material is not resistant, these electric sparks will gradually carbonize its surface, forming dendritic conductive channels, which are known as "electric marks". The equipment will continuously monitor the circuit current. Once the current exceeds the set threshold and remains at this level for a sufficient period of time, the equipment will automatically determine that the sample has failed (electrical tracking has occurred), cut off the high voltage, and record the test time or the voltage value it can withstand.

    IEC 60587: "Test methods for Resistance to tracking and erosion of Electrical insulating Materials Used in Harsh Environmental Conditions" - This is the core standard for high-voltage tracking tests.
    GB/T 6553: "Determination of resistance to tracking and erosion of Electrical insulating materials used in Harsh Environmental Conditions" (equivalent to IEC 60587).
    ASTM D2303: "Test method for tracking Resistance of Solid Electrical Insulating Materials in Moist Conditions"
    And other relevant industry standards, such as JB/T, DL standards, etc.
